Sometimes someone comes along that is different from other people. Sometimes even in politics, someone comes along that is a truth teller and a unifier. Sometimes there’s someone that comes along and upholds an office with integrity and treats people fairly with justice and fair judgment.
As a young man Joel lost his dad and when his mom moved, he came to live with me and my family until graduating from high school. Because of that, I had the privilege of watching him grow into the man he is today, and I know the character that lies within him.
Joel Dyke is running for Marshal in West Monroe and Ward 5. I wholeheartedly endorse Joel for this office. I am confident that he will uphold the law with integrity. There are very few people of whom I can say that with such certainty.
After spending years as a missionary in Mexico, learning the Spanish language, planting churches, and overseeing that work, Joel returned home. I entrusted him with a church that had been given to me, and for the past 30 years he has faithfully pastored that congregation, leading it forward and strengthening it through his leadership. He has also faithfully served under Marshal William Guyton for 27 years and has been successful in every responsibility entrusted to him.

I’m voting for Joel Dyke for West Monroe City Marshal because I believe he is the best choice for the job.
—Reverend Phillip Smith
I don’t usually post a lot about politics or local elections. This one is worth it.
Plenty of good people have already spoken to Joel Dyke’s experience and his heart to serve, and they are right. Here is what I will add from where I sit.
I have had the privilege of being Joel’s physical therapist. That might sound like a small thing, but it is not. Therapy means weeks of showing up while you are in pain, worn down, and frustrated, with no audience and no reason to put on a show. You come to know who a person really is in that room. And the thing that has always stood out to me about Joel is his wisdom.
Not just knowledge, and not just years on the job. Wisdom. Constantly pursuing God’s will and seeking prudent counsel. Knowing when to speak and when to listen, when to press and when to wait, how to stay steady when everyone around him is rattled. That kind of judgment is rare, and it is exactly what you want in the person who carries a badge and the authority that comes with it.
Joel has spent decades actually serving this community, pastoring a local church and at the Marshal’s Office both. He is a man of faith, of integrity, and of uncommon, good sense. West Monroe would be fortunate to have him.
He has my vote for City Marshal, and I would encourage you to give him yours.
—Brian Russell, DPT

He is a man who walks the walk before he talks the talk. He is a true shepherd, leading with consistency, compassion, conviction and courage. He selflessly lives above reproach, embodying the mission to love and serve. His leadership is strong, but his heart is gentle. I can’t imagine anyone else more qualified to lead and love the people of West Monroe and Ward 5. He has my vote and vote of our entire family.

My name is Dr. Kevin Finley, and I have practiced dentistry in West Monroe for the past 42 years. I have known Joel since I moved here in 1984, and during those years I have had the privilege of watching him faithfully serve our community in many different roles.
In politics, the word integrity is often used to describe a candidate. In Joel's case, that word is more than a campaign slogan—it is an accurate description of the man. As his friend, dentist, and fellow Christian, I have witnessed his life as a husband, father, pastor, and Chief Deputy Marshal. In every role, he has demonstrated honesty, humility, and unwavering character.
Too often, people seek public office to be served rather than to serve. Joel's desire has always been to serve others. That commitment is rooted in his love for God and his genuine concern for people.
After many years of faithful service as a pastor and as Chief Deputy Marshal, I believe Joel possesses the experience, leadership, and character necessary to serve as our next Marshal.
