About Chief Dyke
Of all his accomplishments, Joel considers his greatest blessings to be being married to his wife, Angel Dyke, for 39 years, raising two beautiful daughters, and being “Paw” to his three beautiful granddaughters.
One of Joel’s most notable character traits is stability. He had been married to his wife for 39 years. He has pastored Life Church in West Monroe for 30 years. He has been employed with the West Monroe Marshal’s Office for 27 years.

(WEST MONROE, LA) - Chief Deputy Joel Dyke has officially announced his candidacy for West Monroe City Marshal in the upcoming November election, following what he described as “much prayer and thoughtful consideration.”
Dyke brings nearly three decades of law enforcement experience to the race, having served the citizens of West Monroe and Ward 5 through the West Monroe Marshal’s Office for the past 27 years, including the last 14 years as Chief Deputy.
“For the past 27 years, I have had the honor of serving the people of West Monroe with professionalism, dedication, and integrity,” Dyke said. “It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to serve this community, and I believe I am prepared and called to continue that service as your next City Marshal.”
Dyke also announced he has received the endorsement and support of retiring West Monroe City Marshal William Guyton, whom he credited for years of leadership, mentorship, and friendship throughout his career.
“When elected, I pledge to continue serving our community with integrity, compassion, honesty, and respect for every individual,” Dyke said. “Leadership is about serving people, building trust, and protecting our community with fairness and professionalism.”
In addition to his law enforcement career, Dyke has spent more than 40 years in full-time ministry. He served as a foreign missionary for 10 years before becoming Senior Pastor of Life Church in 1996, where he has faithfully led the congregation and ministered to families throughout the community for the past 30 years.
“More than four decades of ministry have taught me the importance of servant leadership, compassion, and standing beside people during both their greatest victories and their most difficult moments,” Dyke said. “My faith, experience, character, and deep commitment to this community have prepared me to continue serving the citizens of West Monroe with excellence.”
Dyke concluded his announcement by asking for, “your prayers, encouragement, and support as we move forward together,” he said. “Thank you, and may God continue to bless West Monroe.”
