Bitter Sweet
Today was a day of bitter sweet emotion for Angel and I as Rebekah our "baby" girl got her driving permit and is now legal to drive a car as long as accompanied by an adult. Angel sent me a text today to tell me that Rebekah had passed her test, to which I responded..."Our little girls have grown up!" She only missed one question and that wasn't too bad seeing how her dad gave the wrong answer when asked the same question. So, I want to know how many of you would get the answer right...Here goes:
When you approach a stop light or stop sign and a police officer waves you on through, do you
A. Speed up and go on
B. Slow down and proceed with caution
C. Stop and wait on the light to change to green
Comment me your answer and we will see how many get it right. Stay tuned for the correct answer.

This Man Inspires Me
I want to introduce you to David Lockett. David is a member of Life Church and has become a very dear friend of mine. The other day David came to see me for some inspiration and direction for his life. David is legally deaf and does his best to hear with the aid of a hearing aid device seen in the picture. While we were visiting, David began to tell me the things that the Lord had been speaking to him.. As he shared with me, I really got a witness that he truly was hearing from the Lord. The Holy Spirit spoke to me while we were visiting and said, "Joel the man who is unable to hear physically is not handicapped. Handicapped is the man who hears physically but is unable to hear what the Holy Spirit would speak into his life." WOW! I had a God moment right there. I felt conviction as well as inspiration to spend more time in God's presence and to tune myself into what the Spirit would say to me. Afterall, God said..."Let him who has ears to hear, hear what the Spirit is saying...". David came to me for inspiration and instead he inspired me more than I could help him. Thank you David for being an example to the rest of us!
Random Update
CHURCHWIDE FISH FRY
Last Sunday Jim Myers and Randy Lewis along with their spouses fried 650 fillets of fish as we invited everyone who attended Life Church that morning to a complimentary lunch. As always the fish was absolutely delicious and it was awesome to see so many people connecting all over our campus. The morning began with 15 people raising their hands at the end of the message to either commit or recommit their life to Christ. Thank you Jesus! And...thank you Jim, Barbara, Randy, and Jayne for spending the entire service outside frying the fish and preparing lunch! You guys are awesome!
WEIGHT LOSS UPDATE
After two weeks of losing 6 pounds one week and 7 pounds the next I anticipated at least 5 pounds weight loss when I stepped on the scale Friday. I was a little unhappy when I looked down and saw that I had only lost 1.5 pounds last week. Began this week watching my diet even more and kicked off the week today with a kick tail workout. I am determined to see those scales drop more this week! Will keep you posted...
FOOTBALL MANIA
I had a really good week of football victories. West Monroe pulled off the come back of the century by beating Ouachita Friday night 20 -19 after being down 19-0 at halftime. Ole Miss beat Florida, LSU kicked tail against Mississippi State, the Saints beat San Fransisco, and the best news of the week... Oregon State beat USC!!! Who's #1 now USC???!!! Oh yeah!
Back In The Gym

I know that many have wondered about my weight loss journey that I began back earlier this year. I posted a few times and then without notice just quit posting anything for a long long time. You can probably guess why. After losing about 35 pounds I fell off the wagon, got run over, and was drug underneath the wagon. I thought the wagon would never stop but it finally did!
A very dear friend Cassidy Riley came to me and offered to personally train me. Cassidy is a professional wrestler who returned home a few months ago from a stint with the WWE. He loves the Lord and is a dear friend and member of Life Church. I am training him spiritually and he is training me physically.
Thanks to Cassidy, I have been back in the gym for about 2 months and have worked out 5 days a week without fail. Now, that is a miracle. By changing my eating lifestyle and working out like a mad man, I am once again dropping the pounds. 6 pounds and 7 pounds each of the last two weeks. Overall, I am back where I left off before I fell off the wagon so from here on out... I will be gaining ground with each pound lost! I will keep you posted and ... I am wearing my seatbelt this time so I don't fall off the wagon.
